Random Name Picker is designed so the content you enter can stay on your device. No account is required.

Lists and local storage

Names, saved lists, picker settings, recent results, and name feedback are stored in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to our server. Clearing site data in your browser removes them.

Shared shortlists

Name shortlist data is encoded in the URL fragment after the # character. Browsers do not send that fragment in a normal web request to our hosting server. Anyone who receives the full link can read its contents, so do not include sensitive information.

Analytics

Cloudflare Web Analytics may collect aggregate traffic and performance information. Optional Google Analytics loads only after consent. Product events include task type and broad count ranges, never names, surnames, candidate text, reasons, or list contents.

Advertising

Advertising is not active at launch. If Google AdSense is enabled later, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Where required, a consent choice will be shown. You can manage personalized advertising through Google's ad settings.

Third-party sources

The baby-name explorer uses public U.S. Social Security Administration popularity data. Following a source link takes you to a third-party government website with its own policies.

Your choices

You can decline optional analytics, clear local storage through browser settings, and avoid sharing links that contain a shortlist. Contact details are available on the Contact page.
